James Van Der Beek is Gary Eberhart Archivesgoing from Dawson to Diplo.
The actor, known for his iconic role on Dawson's Creek,is switching gears to play a fictional version of DJ-producer-musician Diplo in Viceland's first scripted comedy series called What Would Diplo Do?(WT)
The six-episode series, which Van Der Beek also serves a showrunner for, is scheduled to premiere "later in 2017."

Diplo serves as an executive producer alongside Brandon Dermer and Kevin Kusatsu. Dermer will also direct.

“I’ve enjoyed deconstructing my own image quite a bit over the years, but to have the chance to do it with a global megastar like Diplo who's letting us to do something fun and ridiculous that few people have the balls to allow is crazy," Van Der Beek said in a statement. "To get to work with this creative team within a VICELAND aesthetic is fun on a whole new level.”
Van Der Beek memorably sent up his own image playing an exaggerated version of himself on Don't Trust the B in Apt. 23.
Viceland, which launched in 2016, features series focusing on music, food, technology, sex, fashion and other topics related to culture.
The channel is overseen by Spike Jonze, a longtime VICE partner and creative director.
